Israel Houghton & New Breed Earn Historic 8th GRAMMY Nomination for Groundbreaking Latin Worship Album “Coritos Vol. 1”
Multiple GRAMMY Award-winning gospel artist Israel Houghton and his band Israel & New Breed have earned their eighth GRAMMY nomination, this time for their revolutionary Latin worship album, Coritos Vol. 1, in the category of Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the upcoming 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
The Recording Academy officially released the full list of nominees, marking the start of the 2026 GRAMMY season and setting the stage for Music’s Biggest Night, scheduled for February 1, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
This nomination marks a historic milestone, as Coritos Vol. 1 becomes the first-ever Spanish-language album to be recognized in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category, a significant achievement for the Latin Christian music genre and its expanding global influence.
“Every time our name has been called we’ve been shocked, amazed, and grateful. Today is something completely different. In the face of upheaval in our nation, I find it wildly poetic that God would use something like this project to be the first ever Spanish language record in this category. To Him be the Glory,” shares Israel Houghton.
Further elevating this moment, Coritos Vol. 1 has also received a Latin GRAMMY nomination, underscoring its role as a bridge between cultures and generations of worshippers.
“I am grateful for the culture that raised me and my wife. Grateful that our child will always have this music in his story and his life,” Houghton adds.
The project brings together artists from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Ecuador, celebrating the diversity of worship styles and languages through collaboration and unity.
Featured artists include Aaron Moses, Nate Diaz, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, Lucia Parker, Miel San Marcos, Marcos Witt, Evan Craft, Unified Sound, Janina Rosado, Freddy Bailon, Claudette Bailon, Juan De La Cruz, and Coalo Zamorano.

Our entire team of amazing guests, producers, engineers, singers, artists, musicians, videographers, social media, and volunteers coming together with a passion to create something bigger than us. The 2026 GRAMMY Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, broadcasting live on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+. The ceremony will celebrate musical excellence across genres and honor artists who continue to shape the global soundscape.
